And so opinions and preferences are, despite appearances, converging - not in the sense of there being less disagreement(since solutions create new problems), but in the sense of creating ever more shared knowledge.
They converge with each other on any given issue because they are all converging on the objective truth.
It is a mistake to conceive of choice and decision-making as a process of selecting from existing options according to a fixed formula. That omits the most important element of decision-making, namely the creation of new options.
